FAIRBANKS — The Fairbanks Ice Dogs took care of business inside the Big Dipper Ice Arena on Friday night. Now they hope they can do the same thing tonight when they head outdoors for their North American Hockey League series finale against the Wichita Falls Wildcats.

FAIRBANKS — Everything that could go wrong went wrong for the Fairbanks Ice Dogs during a critical two-game North American Hockey League series with the Alaska Avalanche at the Big Dipper Ice Arena.

Fairbanks goaltender Joe Phillippi backstopped the Ice Dogs to a three-game sweep over Alaska, turning aside 93 of 94 shots. On Thursday, the 19-year-old made all 32 saves in a 1-0 victory. The next night, the Shoreview, Minn., native picked up his second shutout in as many nights after stopping 21 shots in a 3-0 triumph. Phillippi steered aside 40 shots in the Ice Dogs’ 5-1 win over the Avalanche on Sunday.
