rnFAIRBANKS — The North American Hockey League playoffs are still two weeks away, but Fairbanks Ice Dogs fans could be getting a first-round preview this weekend when the Kenai River Brown Bears invade the Big Dipper Ice Arena tonight and Saturday.

rnFAIRBANKS — The Fairbanks Ice Dogs hosted their annual North American Hockey League outdoor game against the Wenatchee Wild on Saturday night in front of just more than 2,000 fans, and it wasn’t only the temperatures that were cold. The Ice Dogs, after being down 5-0 in the fourth quarter (four 15-minute quarters are played in the outdoor game rather than three 20-minute periods), lost 5-3 to their West Division rivals.

After the Ice Dogs lost 2-1 in a shootout to the Wild on Friday night, head coach Josh Hauge anticipates the game will be a battle, to say the least.

rnJoe Phillippi allowed just one goal in Tuesday’s North American Hockey League game against the Fresno Monsters as the Ice Dogs went on to win 4-1, inching even closer to clinching the West Division title.

FAIRBANKS — Even with a depleted roster, the Fairbanks Ice Dogs had more than enough firepower to complete a three-game North American Hockey League sweep of the Dawson Creek Rage on Saturday night in British Columbia.

The Ice Dogs scored the first four goals and held on to claim a 4-2 North American Hockey League victory against the Dawson Creek Rage despite injuries to Colton Wolter and Alec Hajdukovich.
