Fairbanks goaltender Joe Phillippi backstopped the Ice Dogs to a three-game sweep over Alaska, turning aside 93 of 94 shots. On Thursday, the 19-year-old made all 32 saves in a 1-0 victory. The next night, the Shoreview, Minn., native picked up his second shutout in as many nights after stopping 21 shots in a 3-0 triumph. Phillippi steered aside 40 shots in the Ice Dogs’ 5-1 win over the Avalanche on Sunday.

FAIRBANKS — The Fairbanks Ice Dogs found their scoring touch in the third period of Saturday night’s North American Hockey League game in Wasilla.rnrnThe Ice Dogs snapped a 1-1 tie with four unanswered goals in the final 20 minutes to claim a 5-1 victory against the Alaska Avalanche, completing a three-game sweep.

FAIRBANKS — The Fairbanks Ice Dogs dug themselves into another hole they couldn’t get all the way out of as they suffered a 5-3 North American Hockey League loss to the Texas Tornado on Saturday night at the Big Dipper Ice Arena.rnrnPlaying in front of a Military Appreciation Night crowd of 2,238, the Ice Dogs spotted the visitors from Frisco, Texas, a 4-0 lead early in the third period before storming back to cut the deficit to 4-3 with about seven minutes left in the game.
