BLAINE, MN- The Fairbanks Ice Dogs fell 6-1 to the Minot Minotauros on the final day of the North American Hockey League Showcase tournament. The Dogs collect three of a possible eight points in the annual league-wide tournament, and sit at 1-4-0-1 through six games this season.
Leading 1-0 late in the first period, Minot exploded for a pair of goals in the final minute of the stanza to hold a commanding 3-0 lead after the first 20. Minot had extended to a 4-0 lead when Ice Dog forward Parker Brown netted his first junior goal. His power play tally at 14:36 of the second cut the lead to 4-1, but the Dogs would get no closer despite outshooting Minot 35-33 throughout the course of the game.
The Ice Dogs remain in the state of hockey, playing a two game series September 28 and 29 against the Minnesota Magicians before returning to Fairbanks for the October 5 home opener at the Big Dipper Ice Arena.
